Sr. Manager, REIT Tax
This position is primarily responsible for the supervision and execution of US direct tax and REIT reporting and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and execute REIT tests and help maintain related compliance with REIT rules including, but not limited to:
- REIT income and asset testing on a quarterly basis
- Ensure compliance with Lineage’s Private Letter Ruling
- Assist with managing and minimizing risks inherent with being a REIT
- Assist with REIT due diligence for acquisitions and integration into existing REIT tax structure.
- Monitor REIT industry issues and analyze legislative proposals impacting the REIT industry.
- Supervise and execute accurate and timely preparation and filing of US federal, state, and local income and franchise tax returns.
- Prepare and/or review documents to support internal/external auditors and tax advisors.
- Lead income tax projections, including those related to forecasts and budgets.
- Assist with estimated tax payment calculations, and ensure all tax payments are made timely and recorded accurately, working with AP/Treasury
- Assist with income tax provisions and supporting schedules, including documenting uncertain tax positions.
- Ensure tax account balances are accurate and in accordance with GAAP.
- Supervise the tracking of all compliance and filing statuses.
- Prepare responses to IRS, state, and local tax matters, ensuring appropriate tracking of communications and responses, and assist with any related audits.
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
- Supervise the Tax Analyst
Required qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience to include the following:
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with US tax reporting and related regulations
- Comprehensive knowledge of US Tax laws specific to REIT compliance with extensive practical “hands-on” modelling experience for both income and asset testing components.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Tax or Accounting
- Strong organization skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and processes while meeting deadlines
- Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to successfully exercise independent judgment and discretion
- Assertive, self-motivated, team-oriented individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
